Hi

I have installed and Configured Power BI Report Server May2021  in my Local System, when I open Web Portal URL in IE with "Run as Administrator" I am getting Message  "You are not allowed to view this folder. Contact your administrator to obtain the necessary permissions. "

I have administrator  access with my uer id

Under LogFiles > RSPortal > getting this message..

Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions granted to user 'msq\suhail are insufficient for performing this operation.;|

 

Please let me know if anyone know this issue.

    I've been fighting this for months.  To get around it I found that I can download the file, change it, then upload it.

        Sorry.  I'm having trouble with trying to edit files from the Portal.  But I'm getting the same error message as you.

    To fix this launch IE as admin and connect to your portal. Explicitly add your domain\user account to the root folder with all desired permissions. This is something we have had for a very long time, but will address in the next release.

      Hello Petebro,

      Thanks for your replay, I gave full access to the root folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft Power BI Report Server,  but still getting the same error, 

       

      logfile>RSPortal.txt 

      Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions granted to user 'msq\suhail' are insufficient for performing this operation.;|

       

      Please guide me, what could be the issue.

        Can you log into the machine you ran the report server installation on and connect to http://localhost/reports with IE launched as admin and tell me if you get the same error seen above in the portal?
