Currently trying to connect a data source (Shared Excel File) which is saved on a Sharepoint folder. However, when I do get data, and connect to Sharepoint Folder, where I input the root URL (https://companyname.sharepoint.com/site), this error keeps coming up,
How do I connect a data source in Sharepoint to my Report in Power BI Desktop for Report Server?
P.S: Currently working on Power BI Desktop for Report Server (Jan 2022) Version.
It was installed via SQL Server Enterprise with active Software Assurance.

When trying to connect to the list you need use the full URL of the list.Otherwise, this error will occur.
The problem was caused by trying to link to the full list address.

Solution: Change the connector to the primary URL path for the Teams Site. For example (https://xxx.sharepoint.com/sites/xxx/xxxTeamWorkspac) is what I used and I removed the remaining extension. Once I executed the connector, I was able to gain connectivity.

So the 404 error probably means that your site url is incorrect. It should be something like https://companyname.sharepoint.com/sites/yoursite. If you navigate to the home page of your site in your browser and then copy/paste that into Power BI Desktop it should work.
Note that Sharepoint Online data sources do not work with Report Server scheduled refreshes - you can only refresh these data sources in Power BI Desktop.
