Hi @Petebro ,
Since Power BI RS september 2024 release, reports connected to SQL Server databases no longer work.
A connection error is systematic stating that the analysis services resource cannot be reached ?!?

The bug is persistant if i save the report with Power BI Desktop September 2024.
This same report works perfectly on a PBI RS January 2024.

Hello,
The solution is integrate environment variable PBI_SQL_TRUSTED_SERVERS on each server that carries a Report Server:
All reports that were crashing due to a direct query connection on a SQL Server database are running again on versions later than the January 2024 version.

We have been investigating the issue but are unable to reproduce it. There is likely some extra element at play here, but we need you to contact customer support to provide private information we cannot ask you to post here on the community pages. Thank you.
Good day!
I have a similar error, as I understand there is no solution?
That's not a SQL Server database, that is an OLAP cube. Please clarify.
Hi @lbendlin
All the reports mentioned worked perfectly on all previous releases, at least since the January 2023 version of the report server.
The reports use a simple connection to a Sql Server database, with a database account.
This is the problem, the error reports, for no reason, an anomaly concerning an SSAS connection which does not exist.
Moreover, all my reports which use a connection on a multidimensional or tabular OLAP cube always work.
I read that this problem was already in the news in January 2021 (Solved: Re: Microsoft Power BI Report Server Connection is... - Microsoft Fabric Community).
This is not an SPN/Kerberos problem as we can read in this 2021 thread which strangely notes the same anomaly.
I actually can't wait for this issue to be fixed with the January 2025 release.
@Petebro for help.
I will also try to reproduce this issue.
