Power BI - Data Gateway Installation Issue
- 2 months agoHello, thank you for following up. I was able to successfully install the Oracle and ODP.NET drivers, and I can now establish a connection and use the Data Gateway. Thank you for your support throughout this process!
Hi RPBI1
Yes, you need to install the Oracle ODAC (Oracle Data Access Components) package on the gateway machine. Being able to connect through SQL*Plus or Power BI Desktop only confirms that a basic Oracle client and network connectivity are working. The on-premises data gateway additionally requires the Oracle provider components, including OraOLEDB.Oracle, to be properly installed and registered.
From the error message, it appears the required Oracle provider is either missing, not registered correctly, or incompatible with the current setup. Please install the 64-bit ODAC package and ensure it includes both Oracle Data Provider for .NET (ODP.NET) and Oracle Provider for OLE DB (OraOLEDB.Oracle). Also verify that the Oracle client and ODAC versions are compatible, then restart the On-premises Data Gateway service and try creating the connection again.
