Power BI - Data Gateway Installation Issue
- 2 months agoHello, thank you for following up. I was able to successfully install the Oracle and ODP.NET drivers, and I can now establish a connection and use the Data Gateway. Thank you for your support throughout this process!
Hello, When I created Data Gateway called "DG East" using "East ABC" region , I am not able to see data gateway when I login to app.powerbi.com however when I login to https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/ I can see "DG East". On that data gateway "DG East" I provided access in the manager users. Still not able to see this "DG East" in app.powerbi.com .
And then when I created Data Gateway called "DG sw" using "Southwest ABC" region , I am able to see data gateway when I login to app.powerbi.com and to https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/
And when I login to app.powerbi.com -> ? then go to ->About Power BI
Your home region =Southwest ABC
1. I thinking my power bi home region is Southwest ABC that is why I don't see gateways created using "East ABC" region . My understanding is correct.
2. How to change Power bi home region to "East ABC" region. Because my admin created work space using capacities created in "East ABC" region.
thank you
Hi RPBI1
Your understanding is mostly correct. Power BI gateways are linked to your tenant’s home (default) region, which you can find under About Power BI. Since your home region is Southwest ABC, gateways registered in that region are usually fully visible and supported in app.powerbi.com.
Gateways from other regions, like East ABC, may show up in the Power Platform Admin Center but might not appear properly or work fully in Power BI/Fabric due to region and environment limitations.
The Power BI home region can’t be changed at the user level or directly in Power BI. It’s set by your Microsoft 365 / Power BI tenant setup, and changing it would require a tenant-level migration coordinated by admins and Microsoft Support.
So, it’s best to register and use gateways in the same region as your Power BI home region for reliable visibility and functionality, even if some resources are in other regions.
