Perspective ordering - SSAS 2017 Model

Hi,

Apologies if this is not the correct forum for this question, but I couldn't identify where SSAS modelling questions should go.

When developing SSAS models for use with PowerBI OnPrem we use perspectives within the cubes.

It seems when connected to via PowerBI Desktop or Excel the perspectives display based on the order of creation.

E.G. below the 'Surveys' perspective was created before the 'Mentor' perspective and displays at the top of the list.

  • Is there a way to dictate the order they display in?

I can't see any settings in VS or Tabular2 for doing so.

I've also tried directly editing the XML to move the Mentor perspective code above the Surveys perspective code. I deployed the code, cleared the cube & processed in full. It had no effect on the order when connected to via PowerBI desktop or Excel

  • Is there a way to set a perspective other than the Model as the default for users when they connect?

Thank you for any help or guidance you can give.

For now you need to use external tools to manage perspectives. It is expected that in the near future this will be possible inside Power BI Desktop.  If that includes sorting - I don't know.
