Page break in multi column report

Hi,

I have created a multicolumn paginated report, which includes a subreport that I want to break at the group level (based on the "Date" field). Currently, the report is breaking at the column level instead of a page break at the group level.

Steps I've taken so far:

In the main report, I attached the subreport.

What I'm trying to achieve: I want the report to break between each group of dates (i.e., each page should correspond to a different group of the date field). like below

What’s happening: Instead of breaking at the page level, the report is breaking at the column level.

i want this should be  separated page level

What I’ve tried:

Setting the group to break at "Between each instance of a group" in the subreport properties.

Ensuring the "Keep Together" setting is disabled in the main report's subreport properties.

Can anyone help me resolve this issue and make the report break at the page level instead of the column level?

Thanks in advance!

Hello @Aartibhilare ,

This can be achieved using list :

1. Take a list

2. Add date column to act as a group (add this as group)

3. Add your base report

4. Attach subreport

5. Select list => go to properties => Add page break between each instance of group and you are done

hello @divyed

I have tried this if you mention the no of columns 3 in report and you break at page level it won't work it breaks at column level .

Hello @Aartibhilare ,

It should work. It looks like below :

divyed_0-1737620809335.png

Outer box is a listbox. Then I have added a textbox with column I want as group. Next is a table , you can add fileds you want to show in the table except date.

3rd one is again a table, you can replace this with your subreport which will take date as input and breaks accordingly.

Here are a few steps you can take to ensure the page break occurs at the group level:

Check Group Properties in Subreport:

In the subreport, go to the group properties for the "Date" field.
Ensure that the "Page Break at End" option is selected. This should force a page break after each group.
Main Report Subreport Properties:

In the main report, select the subreport and go to its properties.
Make sure the "Keep Together" option is set to "False". This ensures that the subreport does not try to keep all its content together on one page.
Adjust Column Settings:

In the main report, check the column settings. Ensure that the columns are not interfering with the page breaks. Sometimes, having multiple columns can cause unexpected behavior with page breaks.
Subreport Layout:

Ensure that the subreport layout is set to "Tablix" and not "Flow". Tablix layout allows for better control over grouping and page breaks.
Test with a Simple Report:

Create a simple test report with just the subreport and the date grouping. This can help isolate the issue and ensure that the page breaks are working as expected.

Hello @saud968

i tried this it didnt work as expected its still breaking at column level instead of page

please find the below links for the files:

Let's try a few more steps to troubleshoot this:

Subreport Page Break Settings:

In the subreport, ensure that the "Page Break" settings are correctly configured. Go to the "Group Properties" for the "Date" field and check both "Page break at start" and "Page break at end".
Main Report Column Settings:

In the main report, verify the column settings. Sometimes, the column settings can override the page break settings. Ensure that the "Columns" property is set to "1" if you want the report to break at the page level.
Subreport Placement:

Ensure that the subreport is placed in a container that supports page breaks, such as a "Rectangle" or "List". This can help enforce the page break settings.
Report Rendering Format:

Check the rendering format of your report. Some formats, like PDF, handle page breaks differently than others. Ensure you are testing the report in the format you intend to use.
Testing with Minimal Data:

Try testing with a minimal dataset to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, large datasets can cause unexpected behavior.

Hi, @Aartibhilare

Perhaps you can try filtering the dates using the Parameter function?
