PBI report server: An error has occurred. Please try again later.

Hi!

I had a strange problem.

We connected to postgresql database and checked it in PBI report server, everything is completed and saved, without any errors.

We had a problem when trying to make an autorefresh of report in PBI report server: " An error has occurred. Please try again later." And after that on page we can see the pop up with this error and 'loading'.

Please, if you have any ideas what to do, shared with me.

Have you checked that the postgres drivers are installed on the report server? This would be required when doing a scheduled refresh since it would be the server connecting to postgres.

Yes, we cheched, it's already installed on the report server

There could be several reasons for the "An error has occurred. Please try again later" error when trying to refresh a report in Power BI Report Server:

  1. Connectivity issues: Ensure that the machine running the Power BI Report Server has a stable internet connection and is able to connect to the PostgreSQL database.

  2. Firewall restrictions: Check if there are any firewall restrictions that are preventing the Power BI Report Server from accessing the PostgreSQL database.

  3. Invalid credentials: Verify that the credentials used to connect to the PostgreSQL database are correct and have sufficient privileges to refresh the report.

  4. Data source settings: Ensure that the data source settings are correct, and that the correct database and tables are selected for the report.

  5. Database server performance: Check if the database server is experiencing performance issues, which can affect the refresh operation.

  6. Power BI Report Server configuration: Make sure that the Power BI Report Server is properly configured and that the data refresh settings are set up correctly.

You can try resolving these potential issues and see if the refresh operation works. If the issue still persists, you can consider reaching out to the Power BI Report Server support team for further assistance.

Thank you, jaweher899!

About 6 point, which settings of data refresh should be set up correctly?

Please, describe it a litt bit.

  1. Data source credentials: The data source credentials used to connect to the database should be valid and up-to-date.

  2. Data source connection: The data source connection should be configured properly, and the database and tables selected for the report should be accessible.

  3. Data refresh schedule: The data refresh schedule should be set up to ensure that the report is updated regularly with the latest data from the database.

  4. Data refresh frequency: The frequency of data refresh should be set appropriately, depending on the report's requirement and the amount of data it needs to process.

  5. Data refresh options: The data refresh options, such as full or incremental refresh, should be set according to the report's requirements and the nature of the data being processed.

  6. Data refresh settings: The data refresh settings, such as the maximum number of rows and the timeout duration, should be configured to ensure that the data refresh operation is efficient and completes within a reasonable time frame.

I recommend also to check the logs: Check the Power BI Report Server logs to see if there are any error messages related to the auto-refresh issue.

Thank you,

I checked logs:

|ERROR|64|OData exception occurred: Microsoft.SqlServer.ReportingServices2010.RSConnection2010+MissingEndpointException:
Failed to connect to the report server. Check the connection details and ensure that the version of the report server is compatible.---> System.Net.WebException:  HTTP 404: Not Found.
Please, discribe what tot do.
