October Desktop Version to a June Sever Version
Version: 2.51.4885.1041 64-bit (October 2017)
Version 14.0.600.301 (June 2017)
If I try to deploy via the October desktop to a server running Version 1.1.6530.30789 (October 2017) I can deploy the report with no issues.
However on trying to use the October desktop to a server running Version 14.0.600.301 (June 2017) I get an error message
Do you need to have the version of the desktop to match the server? Meaning multiple versions of the desktop. Should the latest one not have all the functionality of the previous versions?
Hi Anonymous,
Yes. The version of the Power BI desktop have to match the version of Report Server. It is not able to publish a Power BI report created in new desktop to an old version report server.

The only issue is that when you install a new version of the power bi desktop it overrides the previous version. Could you set the default install path to include the version number or month etc so that it is easier to keep them seperate.
