Newbie to Repor server

Hello

Today after long time working with Power BI, I going into Power BI Report Server, for now I just have one question.

For the live connections or import of the data, we use the same Gateway, or is a different method?, any help you can provide me is well received.

Thanks in advanced.

You do not need a Personal Gateway as the other poster mentioned.

To refresh data in a published PBI report:

    1. Using PBI Desktop save the report to your reportserver.

    2. Navigate to the published report and click the elipses and then select "Manage"

    3. Go to the report you published and you can set up the data source within the report and then create a "scheduled refresh".

    4. Select "Data Source"  on the left-hand menu.  Supply the necessary credentials to connect to the data.  Then select "Save"

    5. Select  "Scehdule Refresh" on the left-hand menu.  Create a new schedule.  Fill in the appropriate information and select "Save"

That is high level overview,  I hope that helps.

    Sincerely,

I think you only need a gateway in place if the data source is on a different network to your Report Server. If it's all on the same network, you can connect directly without a gateway.

Anonymous Thanks for the reply, I find out in report server you don't need a Gateway, the important thing is that the server can see all of your data sources.
