MySQL Authentification Error with On Premises Data Gateway
- Anonymous4 years ago
Hello everyone,
I opened a support ticket and the Microsoft Support Team found a solution to this problem. Here's what we had to do :
- On Power BI Desktop :
- Clear cache and then cleared permission from data source settings.
- refresh and put all the credentials again
- Publish it to the service.
- On the online service :
- Add new datasource to the gateway (with old UI link, so that credentials are not required: https://app.powerbi.com/groups/me/gateways?newManageGatewaysUI=false) and gave same privacy level as power bi desktop.
Online refresh worked fine after that.

Hi Anonymous ,
Or you can also try going to File|Options and Settings|Data Source Settings and Edit Data Source. Change the credentials to database credentials instead of Windows credentials, then republish.

If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information and let me know immediately. Looking forward to your reply.
Best Regards,
Henry

Hello,
Thanks for your answer.
I already had permissions set to database credentials.
The error occurs when trying to connect the data source to the gateway. Even when I set "Skip Test Connection", when I force a refresh online this is the error that I have :- Underlying error code: -2147467259
- Underlying error message: The credentials provided for the MySql source are not valid.
It seems to be a problem of credentials, but I'm sure I have put the right username/password combination.
Thanks a lot for your help! All the best,
Antonio
