Multiple data sources using import mode in Power BI Desktop compatible to report server

Hello All,

We are developing a report on Power BI Desktop compatible to report server. Here, we connect to a oracle database and import the data using Storage mode as 'Import'. We have a mapping sheet maintained in excel to be used as a dimension table in the report. However, we get the error that the report server does not support composite models. Both the sources are having storage mode as 'import'. Still the error appears. Is that the report server does not support more than one data source whatever may be the storage mode.

Any quick help here is highly appreciated.

Regards

Hi @Janithri ,

you should be able to connect both in import mode. Please load the oracel (as import) and the excelfile again in a new PBI Desktop file to see if the error is replicable.

Hi,

The problem is resolved now. We had initially developed the report from Power BI desktop for cloud and were migrating the report to Power BI desktop compatible to report server. While it is not actually a composite model, it still throws an error of composite model. If we delete the multiple sources and complete the migration to report server desktop, it later allows us to import the other source data. This is not expected behaviour, though.

Thanks for your prompt response.

Janithri
