Multi-Column Layout in SubReport (paginated reports)

I have an overarching report that consists of a cover page, a subreport that is tabular (with tablix data region) and then another subreport that consists of a 2-column layout (like newspaper) with a List data region.

The subreport renders in 2-columns just fine by itself, but when nesting it into the larger report as a subreport AND rendering in Print Layout, the subreport only populates data in one column.

How can I achieve this?

Hi @razaross

If you have a subreport that renders in two columns when viewed on its own, but only populates data in one column when nested inside another report and viewed in print layout, there are a few potential causes and solutions to consider:

• Make sure that the subreport is set to "Grow to Next" in the subreport's properties. This will ensure that the subreport expands to fill the available space in the parent report, which should allow it to populate data in both columns.

• Check the margins of the parent report and the subreport to ensure that they are not overlapping. If the margins are too wide, this can cause the subreport to only populate data in one column.

• If the parent report uses a tablix data region, make sure that the subreport is placed inside a cell in the tablix. This will ensure that the subreport respects the layout of the parent report.

• If the subreport uses a List data region, make sure that the List's "Columns" property is set to "2" or more. This will allow the List to split its data across multiple columns.

Overall, the key to getting a subreport to render correctly in a parent report is to ensure that the subreport is properly sized and positioned within the parent report, and that its data regions are configured to respect the layout of the parent report.

If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information and let me know immediately. Looking forward to your reply.

Henry

same issue how we can handle this?

@v-henryk-mstf   I'm missing something....

I don't see where/how to set "Grow to Next" in the subreport's properties.

And I don't see how to set the columns of a "List" to 2 columns. I only see how to set the Report's columns. (that's a List data region in the subreport itself)
