Hi, We have a server that is on premises physically and wish to move it to a server that is in the cloud. It contains the software for the powerbi gateway. Can this be done? If so, does any configuration need to change?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Remember that the gateway connection definitions are held in Azure. So you don't need to "move" a gateway. Add a new VM (or more !) to the gateway cluster. If you want to retire the existing cluster member (the "anchor") you can make one of the new VMs the anchor which will orphan the existing one. After that you can decommission that.
is that an on-premise cloud or a cloudy cloud?
Remember that the gateway needs to have direct line of sight to the on-premise data sources.
I believe that is an on-premise cloud.
