Migrate Existing PBI reports to SSRS

Greetings,

We have many dashboards and reports that were developed using PBI desktop and published to the cloud.  When we attempt to promote these to our local PBIRS instance for testing, we receive an invalid pbix format error.

We are able to upload reports that were developed using the PBIDesktopRS application, however the prospect of rebuilding all of our reports with a separate application version is not an appealing one.

How do we publish our existing .pbix report library to PBIRS without having to rebuild them using PBIDesktopRS?

    Hi EricHauenstein,

It is not able to directly move Power BI reports hosted in cloud service to Power BI Report Server. However, you can upload those existing .pbix files generated by PBI desktop (the normal version, not the one optimised for PBIRS) on web portal.

We tried that, however we receive the following error for all .pbix files we have tested, including new ones developed in the December PBI Desktop release.

        Hi EricHauenstein,

In my environment, I could upload .pbix file created in December PBI desktop release to Web Portal successfully.

Please change the browser and try again. Also, please check whetehr you could open these .pbix files (developed in the December PBI Desktop) in PBI desktop (File->Open->select a .pbix file) October release optimised for report server.
