Microsoft Power BI Report Server January 2026 latest Release

 Why does the latest (Jan 2026- released Feb 25th) download for Report Server only provide the Desktop app executable and not the report server as well?

It looks like it has been corrected now. Both the Report Server executeable and Desktop App installer were present today.

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric community forum.

It looks like this release is specifically for the Report Server–optimized Power BI Desktop, not the Report Server engine itself. Microsoft usually updates the Desktop version separately, while updates to the Report Server engine happen quarterly or when there are important server fixes or security updates. As @mjbernier  mentioned, there may be a brief waiting period of around 3–4 weeks after the release before starting testing, in order to observe whether any initial issues are identified and addressed.

Guessing they're posting a bug fix? That's why we usually wait 3-4 weeks after release before we begin testing.
