Hi @rhashhab,

That message means Power BI Desktop tried to open/keep a secure network connection to the Power BI Service, but the connection was terminated by something in the path (typically a proxy, VPN, firewall, TLS/SSL inspection, or a flaky network device). It’s a generic .NET “transport connection closed by remote host” error-so the Service didn’t finish the handshake or the connection was cut mid-upload.

Try navigating to your workspace in the browser and upload the report using the import menu.

Hi   @rhashhab

This error usually indicates a network or connectivity issue between Power BI Desktop and the Power BI Service during publishing. It can have several causes:

Please find below the common cause and solutions:

  1. Network interruptions or firewall/proxy restrictions
Check with your IT/network team to ensure your firewall, proxy, or antivirus is not blocking or interrupting connections to Power BI service URLs. Workstations on unstable or restrictive networks can cause this issue.
  2. Power BI Desktop version
Make sure you are using the latest version of Power BI Desktop. Older versions might have compatibility or connection bugs.
  3. Cached data or credentials issues
    • Clear the cache and credentials in Power BI Desktop:
      • Go toFile > Options and settings > Options > Data Load and clickClear Cache.
      • Go to File > Options and settings > Data source settings and clickClear Permissions for any cached credentials.
  4. File size or report complexity
Very large or complex PBIX files might time out or cause connection drops. Try to optimize your model or publish smaller reports as a test.
  5. Try different network or device
Test publishing from a different network or machine to isolate if the issue is specific to your environment.
  6. Permission issues
Verify you have correct permissions to publish to the target workspace.

Other troubleshooting

  • Sign in to Power BI desktop with your account again.
  • Restart Power BI Desktop and your machine before publishing.
  • Check Power BI Service status page for any outages.
