Hi!
Is there any way to edit a parameter of a dashboard published on the report server?
I don't see the web portal showing the list of parameters. Nor have I been able to see a way to do it via API.
Regards,
Victor

Hi @vcarazo ,
For .pbix reports published to Power BI Report Server, Power Query parameters cannot be edited directly from the Report Server portal or via supported APIs after deployment.
The supported approach is:
Open the PBIX in Power BI Desktop for Report Server
Update the parameter value
Republish the report
For Dev/Test/Prod scenarios, common approaches are maintaining separate PBIX files per environment or externalizing the configuration logic to the data source layer.
Best Regards,
Thank you.

I think on RS u just can’t change a pq‑param after publish, the portal/api never surfaced that layer…so u just fix it in the pbix and repub.
Hi @vcarazo ,
Unfortunately Power Query parameters in a .pbix cannot be edited directly from the Power BI Report Server web portal — this is a known limitation that only applies to paginated reports (.rdl).
For .pbix files the only way is to edit locally and re-publish:
- Open the .pbix in Power BI Desktop
- Home → Transform Data → Manage Parameters
- Edit your parameter value
- Save and re-publish to Report Server
It is not the most convenient approach but it is currently the only supported option for Power BI Report Server.

Hi @vcarazo ,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft community.
Is this a Paginated Report (.rdl) or a Power BI Report (.pbix)?
Are you trying to modify a Power Query parameter, datasource connection, or report filter parameter?
