Hi all! In a recent update of Power BI (we use report server), I noticed that when you add an icon as a cell element in a table, and make that column only display the icon (see image below for setting information), there is no longer a default hover of what the original text was when you hover on the icon. This used to work by default. I'd like to get the hover back without turning on full tooltips for the table, since it's only this icon column that I need hover data for. Is there a way to get the default text hover back?
Before the January 2024 update, when I hovered on this icon, the text value of the column popped up:
Hi, @InTheDark
In the January release of Power BI RS and later desktops, if you want to enable icon display, then you need to enable tool tips, as shown in the following image:
Without affecting your reports, you can turn on this tooltips. to ensure that the current icon can be read by your report and the user knows what it means.
I think it's possible to turn on the current feature, although there is also this tooltips in other columns, but in normal reading, we usually swipe the data into the icon to see its hint.
Due to the update iteration of the version, some features may be optimized to improve the stability of the software, user experience, etc., you can try to use this feature to ensure the readability of your reports.

@Anonymous Thanks for the clarification. Is there a way to turn on tool tips without including all the other column's information? For context, we need to use a Table visual, not a Matrix, and using a page as a tooltip is not really an option, since it will show for lines where there is no data for the icon. There are many other columns that we don't want to see in the tool tip. In the print screen below, I would only want to see the N column's value.
Hi, @InTheDark
If you only want to show the line you indicate, you need to filter out the current line in the tooltip page. This step, you can do this through the filter panel.
