How to Reuse Credentials Across Multiple Reports in Power BI Report Server

Hi everyone,

I am trying to understand if it is possible to reuse the same credentials across multiple reports in Power BI Report Server.
My goal is to:

  • Set up credentials once for a data source and use them across different reports.
  • Avoid having to configure separate credentials for each individual report.

Is there any official documentation or a link that explains whether this is possible or not?

I need to provide my client with documentation about this feature.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi @Anonymous ,
although this answer gives very good hints for a possible management by the it group, what we want to achieve must be feasible by any user maybe without knowledge of powershell or various api.
so I can't accept this solution because it doesn't cover the required needs.

thanks anyway

Hi,@Maverik91 .Thank you for your reply.
If you don't have access to Powershell/other APIs for unified processing of reports, then there may be no other shortcut to solve your problem for now.
I would prefer to centralize and unify the management of pbix reports that use the same credentials for authentication. Save them to the same folder. In the future, you can manage better when you change the data source credentials of the reports.

Hi,@Maverik91 .I am glad to help you.
You may be able to use the powershell command to accomplish your needs

I hope my suggestions give you good ideas, if you have any more questions, please clarify in a follow-up reply.
