How to Export PPT from Paginated Report with Editable Tables Instead of Images?

Hi Community,

I’m using Power BI Report Builder to develop a paginated report, and I plan to use the exported content primarily in PowerPoint presentations. However, I’ve encountered an issue during the PPT export process:

When exporting the paginated report to PowerPoint format, I found that most report elements (especially tables) are rendered as images, rather than editable objects. Only some textboxes remain editable.

What I need is to retain the table content as editable tables in the PowerPoint file after export (e.g., so I can change numbers, format cells, etc., directly in PPT).

Is there a way to:

  • Export a paginated report from Report Builder to PowerPoint with editable table content?

  • Or any recommended workaround or export format that allows better integration into editable PPT slides?

Any help or workaround would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hi @mshao ,

As of now, Power BI Paginated Reports do not support exporting tables as editable objects in PowerPoint. But here is an approache you could consider.
Export the Paginated Report to Excel, where the data is fully editable. You can then copy the table from Excel and paste it into PowerPoint

If this is important to you, I recommend submitting your detailed feedback and ideas through Microsoft's official feedback channels, such as the Microsoft Fabric Ideas. Fabric Ideas - Microsoft Fabric Community

Hi @mshao ,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community.

Currently, when exporting a Power BI Paginated Report to PowerPoint (PPT), the tables are rendered as static images rather than editable PowerPoint tables. This behavior is by design and comes with certain limitations.

As a workaround, if your objective is to obtain editable tables, we recommend exporting the report to Excel instead. Here tables are exported as native Excel tables. Data remains editable. You can then copy-paste from Excel to PowerPoint as editable tables.

In Power BI Report Builder or Service:
Export > Excel (.xlsx) > Copy table > Paste in PowerPoint.

I hope you find this useful.
