It probably doesn't work because you are putting a column in the place of a Measure.
I think you should make a measure as Total Amount = SUM(Amount), and then use that measure in this Formating.Measure = FORMAT(Total Amount,"#,###0;(#,###0)")
or you can make this all in one measure with a variable :
Measure =
var Total Amount = SUM(Amount)
return FORMAT(Total Amount,"#,###0;(#,###0)")
You got me right, but it's a solution I've already tried and it doesn't work for me, this is the message I get
