External Tools on Power BI Desktop for Power BI Report Server

I am currently running Version: 2.100.1381.0 64-bit (January 2022) (Power BI Desktop for Power BI Report Server) and have installed the latest External Tools, although they do appear in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Power BI Desktop\External Tools" folder. The "External Tools" icon under the "Help" ribbon appears to be grayed out and there is no "External Tools" option after the "Help" option in the Menu Bar.

Is there a way to enable external tools in Power BI Desktop for Power BI Report Server?

Thank you.

Hi @HendrikS ,

Please make sure you have the latest versions of them installed.

Then open your Power BI Desktop, Go to File --> Options --> Preview Features and check the Option Store datasets using enhanced metadata format.

Just a comment from my side, take note that the External Tools does not appear on any of the Report Server versions of Power BI Desktop

Hi,

I've exactly the same issue : Power BI Besktop (Optimized for Power BI Report Server)

Version : 2.100.4082.0 64-bit (janvier 2022)

I've installed the latest Dax Studio and there is no External Tools, in the ribbon.

For your information I've no menu : "Go to File --> Options --> Preview Features and check the Option Store datasets using enhanced metadata format.".

So I can't acitvate 😞

Thanks for your help
