Solved: Error when uploading PBI Dec release to Inhouse Re...

I can't upload the december release of PBI to On Premsis Report server. I can upload the October PBI files just fine. Do I need a newer version of PBI On Premsis Report Server?

Is there a newer version of PBI On Premsis Report Server.

PBI Dec version: 2.53.4954.621

PBI Oct Version: 2.51.4885.1423

PBI On Premsis Server Version: 14.0.600.438

Currently, the latest version of Power BI Report Server is 14.0.600.438. To publish Power BI reports to Power BI Report Server, you have to download and install Power BI Desktop (The latest version is 2.51.4885.1423 October 2017) optimized for Power BI Report Server . This release is different from the Power BI Desktop(the latest version is 2.53.4954.481 December 2017) used with the Power BI service. version of the reports and model. It is not supported to upload a PBI report created in desktop December release to Report Server.

You can load a december file into the October RS Powerbi and then deploy from this version.

You can get the oct PowerBIRS here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=56137

You may get a warning if there are any new features used. These will not work. PowerBI is much better at loading new files in older versions than it used to be.

So keep away from the features added after October and you should be ok.
