We download our Power BI reports in excel using the "Analyze in Excel" option.
We were able to download the file and play around the data in excel until last Friday. We haven't upgraded our gateway or no other changes were done.
For some reason, we started seeing the following error while opening the excel file that got downloaded after choosing the "Analyze in Excel" option.
Error:- Failed to connect to the URL "https://api.powerbi.com" while attempting to call cluster resolution.

Solved this by myself.
THe issue is related with Security Protocol, for Windows 7 it needs to be enabled and enforced by MS Excel.
Solution:
1) Install the newest driver (64-bit)
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/collaborate-share/desktop-troubleshooting-analyze-in-excel
2) Enable TLS 1.2 in the registry of your machine (this step may be optional if you install step 3)
https://help.runbox.com/enabling-tls-1-2-on-windows-7/
3) Apply the Easy FIX by installing this or manually by steps described below. (I installed the EasyFix).

You're welcome!
Did not work for me.
Hi all,
I was having the same troubles and having mixed success with MCzai solution on different users PCs.
The one big catch i found was i needed to install the following KB 3140245
http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/search.aspx?q=kb3140245
Note: I also updated Office on a couple to, but i believe all that is requried is the above KB
Enjoy

Thank you very much. I installed EasyFix and that resolved my issue.
It does not work for me
Try re-installing the excel plugins and then the easy fix. Restart your OS.
We are having a similar issues since late last week. @Anonymous , @Anonymous , are your machines running Win 7 or Win 10? Our problems are with Win 7 machines.
Our machines are running on Win 7.
Win7 as well. That's a nice hint. Is there a possibility to report this to MS, as it was possible few years back ?
We're going to first troubleshoot using these suggestions, then open a ticket with MS.

As I mentioned in my initial post, it was working fine until 2 days ago.
I have gone through the following document and I can confirm that we have the correct versions of the plugins.

Upvoting. Same issue here!
Updated the PowerBI application, republished dataset again, and updated the OLEDB drivers to the newest.
The issue still exist - for previously created report and for the new as well.
