Hello @v-jtian-msft  and @lbendlin ,

Thanks a lot for your workaround and suggestions. Here is the thing which worked for me.

Add Power BI Server url (format: xyz.com without https) and its credentials in the windows credentials manager of your local machine where you wanted to open the report in edit mode.

danishwahab_1-1728881767828.png

Just make sure windows credentials are not disabled in your machine. This worked for me.

Thanks!

Hi,lbendlin ,thanks for your concern about this issue.

Your answer is excellent!
And I would like to share some additional solutions below.

Hello,@danishwahab .I am glad to help you.
I hope my suggestions below will help you.
As lbendlin suggested, please check if your users have the right to access (data source),edit reports.
2. check if the problem is only for a single pbix file or is it a generalized phenomenon.
Do you get the same problem when you click on files on other report servers.
3. For pbix files that you can't open, try accessing the Power Query editor in Desktop or change the data source settings and try editing the data source again to troubleshoot if it's a corrupted file or a path issue.

vjtianmsft_1-1728871396739.png

Redownload the pbix file with the problem on the report server and try to open it as an administrator in Power BI Desktop RS (Guaranteed to be the latest version)

vjtianmsft_2-1728871480949.png

4. If necessary, please try the above operation after clearing the cache and data source credentials in Desktop( RS version ) in advance to exclude the impact of the original cache.

I hope my suggestions give you good ideas, if you have any more questions, please clarify in a follow-up reply.

Yes, looks like it cannot find a particular file (or may not have access).  Maybe give read permissions to all users for the install folder.
