Displaying Power BI Report Server Refresh Errors in a Dashboard

Hello Power BI Community,

I am trying to build a dashboard or report that provides insights into refresh failures occurring in our Power BI Report Server. The goal is to have a real-time or near-real-time visual representation of errors that provides details about which report failed, why it failed, and when it failed.

I am looking for a integrated or automated approach to extract and display this data in a user-friendly format.

Has anyone in the community tackled this challenge before? If so:

  1. What methodologies or best practices did you adopt?
  2. Are there any tools or third-party integrations that might simplify this task?
  3. Any pitfalls or security concerns I should be aware of while accessing and displaying system logs in a report?

Thank you for your assistance and insights!

Hi @Mariami

Earlier this year @akorn had created a great pbix report that may be useful for you

Feel free to check it out here:

Power BI Report Server Monitoring Tool

On the "Jobs PBIRS" page there are some info about timed events, such as scheduled refreshes for pbix, and caching and timed subscriptions for RDL.

You will just need to point the report to use your Report Server database.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Alexandra
