Hi - I'd like to default date slicers to last month (updating each month automatically) but allow users to change the dates if necessary. Adding a relative date filter to that slicer accomplishes the first part but it seems that it doesn't allow the user to change the dates to anything outside the dates selected in the filter. .e.g I set the relative date filter to last month. The date slicer that defaults to 12/1/17-12/31/17. I'm unable to update the date filters to anything before 12/1/17 or anything after 12/31/17 (only in between). Is there a way to accomplish this?
Thanks,
S
Hi Shera - I have a simillar requirement and just wanted to check if you were able to solve it . In my case , I want my report to default to last 6 months ( which can be done using Relative date slicer) , but give user option to chose a custom date range .
I tried adding 2 date slicers
1. Slicer 1 : Relative date slicer set to Last 6 calendar months
2. Slicer 2 : date range slicer
Removed all interactions on Slicer1 , but set it to filter Slicer 2 . This part seems to be working , but my visuals are not reflecting data when user selects a date range in slicer 2 .
Thanks
Hi @shera276,
You can create a calculated column to decide whether it's a date in Last Month or not. You can refer to this blog: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/lukaszp/2015/08/08/finding-the-latest-date-in-power-bi-desktop/
Then you can add two slicers in the report, one contains actual dates values, another contains the new calculated column. When you save the report, select the value indicates the Last Month in the first slicer. Another slicer without any value selected. When the end user view the report, they can unselect Last Month, then select expected values in another slicer.
