Dashboard crashes once opening

Hello to all!

Something really weird and bad happens to all of my dashboards in the last two months:

Everytime any of my users is entering to a dashboard (any dashboard, it happens in all of them) the report server displays the following message ("something went wrong", I've added a picture also) with no data or visuals.

After about 8,10 refreshes to the browser the dashboard is finally displayed.

Also after a restart to the report server as well, the dashboard is displayed.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

Thank you @aduguid
Hi, @ManOnAMission

This one is a very strange behavior. This 500 error occurs on the server side.
I have had it happen before and I was able to get it to work by uninstalling the report server and then re-downloading and installing it and configuring it.
This is an alternative solution. If you are going to do this, please test it in your test computer. For example: in your test environment, install the report server then configure it and upload your current report to the report server, open it and see if it works.

Best Regards

  1. And now I've seen that in the scheduled refresh plan that I've made for the dashboard it fails to refresh the data with the status of " data source error: login failed for data source 'unknown' ".

I only have one data source in the dashboard and it's not called "unknown"

Can you post the text of the technical details from the error message?

It only says "undefined",  request ID, status code = 500, and the time

What debugging have you done?

Did you check the log files in the report server? C:\Program Files\Microsoft Power BI Report Server\PBIRS\LogFiles

Do you have a test instance running as well? If so, does the same error occur on that instance?

Did you upgrade recently or has there been any server patching?

Does this occur in all browsers? e.g. Microsoft Edge, Chrome, Firefox

What version of PBIRS are you running?

In the log file, Every time the dashboard gets entered to it gets a response code of 500.

Not a test instance but happens to every dashboard

I didn't upgrade. What does server patching mean?

Happens in any browser.

Thanks for the reply!
