Connecting to Reporting Server instance from SSMS

I have Power BI Reporting Server Jan 2021 installed. It is configured with Custom Security (as per this: https://github.com/microsoft/Reporting-Services/tree/master/CustomSecuritySample)

PBIRS is working abosultely fine. I am able to access the portal and do all the reporting operations.

However I am required to update some headers and trying to follow the steps from this link https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/tools/server-properties-advanced-page-report.... I am getting invalid user credentails, no matter what combination I try. Please help!

Hi @Anonymous ,

 https://github.com/microsoft/Reporting-Services/tree/master/CustomSecuritySample>)

 <https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/reporting-services/tools/server-properties-advanced-page-reporting-services?view=sql-server-ver15>

First of all, the two documents in your original post are attached with incorrect links. Please correct them.

Then, do you mean that after you configured custom security, you can access to PBIRS, but cannot access to the corresponding report server instance in SSMS?

Or, do you mean that after you updated some headers and you want to connect to the corresponding report server instance in SSMS, this error occurrs?

Best Regards,

Icey

Thanks @Icey , I have corrected the hyperlinks.

This statement is true...

"do you mean that after you configured custom security, you can access to PBIRS, but cannot access to the corresponding report server instance in SSMS?"

Hi @Anonymous ,

1. What authentication method did you use when connecting to the corresponding report server instance in SSMS?

2. Can the database in Report Server Comfiguration Manager connect successfully?
