Compatibility Check Between SQL SERVER REPORTING SERVICES 2022 and Power BI Desktop RS (May 2025)
Hi AYAELYOUSS ,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.
You can resolve this issue by upgrading to the latest version of both Power BI Report Server and Power BI Desktop (Optimized for Report Server). Each release of the Desktop app is specifically built and tested to work with the matching Report Server release. For example, the Power BI Desktop (Optimized for Power BI Report Server May 2025) version is explicitly designed to be compatible with the Power BI Report Server May 2025 build. Using mismatched versions (e.g., a newer Desktop with an older Report Server) often leads to publishing or rendering issues due to feature differences.
Download Microsoft Power BI Desktop (Optimized for Power BI Report Server - May 2025) from Official Microsoft Download Center
But before you upgrade Please make sure you follow this article

Thank you
Hello AYAELYOUSS ,
Why do you have such a gap between the Server version and the Desktop version?
To make sure you're not talking about SQL Server 2022, can you give us the version?

Hi vivien57 , yes i'm not talking about sql server version , i'm talking about Microsoft SQL Server 2022 Reporting Services in order to install Power bi report server.

Power BI Report Server is different from Reporting Services.
Their lifecycles are also different. One is linked to SQL Server (the screenshot you're seeing) and therefore follows SQL Server versions, while the other is a standalone product, with a release every quarter.

If you are on Reporting Services, you must migrate to Power BI Report Server (provided you have a license, either by purchasing a SQL Server Enterprise license or by purchasing a Fabric capacity)

Don't hesitate to give a kudo if my answer helps you.
