Cache refresh without using scheduled refresh

Hi All,

I am unsure if it is possible to do what I want to do however thought I would ask before re-engineering a large(ish) report.

We pull data directly from D365 Online and surface this through various filtered tables and visuals to provide our leadership with data. Unfortunately, D365 online isn't supported for scheduled refresh therefore we are currently opening the report every day, refreshing the data and then saving it again.

Anyone know if there is a way to refresh this cached data automatically from D365? My workaround failing this will be a scheduled data extract from D365 to SQL and then a scheduled refresh into PBI, however this is less than ideal as the D365 export isn't great 😞

The issue is that the on-prem PBI Report Server does not support the ability to authenticate to cloud based data sources. So your workaround of using an intermediate data store like a SQL Server is the only way to make this sort of scheduled refresh work.

Thanks, I thought it was likely the case but no harm in asking 🙂
