Avoid Create Group in office 365 when Power BI workspace gets created

Hi,

Is there any way to avoid creating office 365 groups whenever we create the Power Bi workspace.

Thanks

    Hi vnaga85,

Currently, we cannot avoid creating office 365 groups when we create an App Workspace in Power BI service.

    From this document

Over the next few months, we plan on the following enhancements to app workspaces:

    • Creating app workspaces won't create corresponding entities in Office 365 like group workspaces do. So you can create any number of app workspaces without worrying about different Office 365 groups being created behind the scenes (you can still use an Office 365 group’s OneDrive for Business to store your files).

    Best regards,

    Yuliana Gu

      Hi v-yulgu-msft,

Is there any update on ETA for this?

Additionally, do you happen to know if it's possible, or will be possible, to make Office 365 groups not appear as Power BI groups?

Our App Workspaces do not align directly with our Office 365 groups, but we have Office 365 groups for other purposes.

At present, we have tried to apply a level of user governance by limiting collaboration areas to App Workspaces to which the user brings specific knowledge or insight.  Everyone else receives the App.

Users are inheriting departmental Office 365 group membership, however, and this is providing a shared area where users can avoid governance and compliance regulations.

If this upcoming change can address both issues, that'd be fantastic news.

      Thanks
