Adjust "MashupEvaluationContainerMaxCount" in PoBI RS(May 2024)

The Issue:

After installing the mysql-connector-odbc-9.1.0-winx64 driver to connect to MySQL databases, I noticed that the Mashup Evaluation Container process (Microsoft.Mashup.Container.NetFX40.exe) is consuming a significant amount of CPU and memory, impacting server performance.

Previous Solution in Legacy Versions:

In earlier versions of Power BI Report Server, it was possible to modify the MashupEvaluationContainerMaxCount setting in the PowerBIReportServer.exe.config file to limit the number of containers and control resource usage. However, in this latest version, it seems that PowerBIReportServer.exe.config is no longer available or has been restructured.

Question:

Does anyone know where I can find the MashupEvaluation... setting in the May 2024 release? Is there a new configuration file, or is this setting managed differently now?

Any guidance on how to control the Mashup Evaluation Container's resource usage in this version would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Greetings JM

Your ideas is so great d_gosbell, I agree with your idea.

Hi, @jemovie

You'll need to open your report in Power BI desktop RS and modify this setting in Settings:

The property setting MashupEvaluationContainerMaxCount you mentioned should be located in the registry after I searched.

I did not find the PowerBIReportServer.exe.config you mentioned in the January, May, and September versions of 2024. The following is the directory structure of the configuration file in Power BI report server:

You should make the adjustments in Power BI desktop as mentioned in the documentation:

That does not appear to be a documented setting, you should raise a support ticket with Microsoft and ask this question there.
