This report component presents a paginated matrix visualization designed to analyze global internet adoption trends over the last decade. During this period, worldwide internet connectivity has expanded significantly, with notable acceleration in emerging economies. The matrix provides a structured, data-driven method for examining this growth.
Functionality Overview
The matrix supports dynamic country ranking based on two user-selectable parameters:
Internet Penetration — measured as internet users per 100 individuals.
User Growth Since 2010 — representing the absolute growth in the number of internet users over the decade.
Users can additionally specify the sorting order (ascending or descending), enabling both top-down and bottom-up comparative analysis.
Pagination and User Interaction
To enhance usability and reduce cognitive load, the matrix incorporates custom pagination controls. Users may define the number of countries displayed per page, and the total number of pages recalculates automatically based on the selected value.
Conditional Formatting Logic
Countries are assigned region-specific color coding using the Olympic color standard for immediate visual categorization:
Europe → Blue
Asia → Yellow
Africa → Black
Australia/Oceania → Green
Americas → Red
A dedicated Region column provides explicit region classification, while the formatting ensures consistent visual grouping across pages.
Filtering and Contextual Information
Two slicers—Region and Sub-Region—allow users to constrain the data scope. The current slicer selections are reflected programmatically in the matrix subtitle, ensuring clarity of analytical context throughout the interaction.
Reset Functionality
A Reset control is provided to restore the visual to its initial configuration. This enables users to clear all applied filters and pagination adjustments with a single action, ensuring a consistent and repeatable starting point for analysis.
