salesforce - data source can't be refreshed because the credentials are invalid

I have successfully linked my Salesforce account and objects to a PowerBi report.  This is created in the desktop application.

When I refresh from here, the data updates perfectly.

However the published data does not update and tells me that I have invalid credentials.

When I try and connect to Salesforce, I enter my password and get the following error.

Can you please tell me why?

Hi @Anonymous were you able to find a solution? As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:

After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:

There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor.  Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

Any update on this yet?

Hi @Anonymous,

I’ve got response from the Product Team.

In the most recent example, the Salesforce service is returning an HTTP 403, meaning "this account does not have permission to perform this operation". We don't know why Salesforce would return this error, and customers may need to contact Salesforce support to find out why.

Please note that I have contacted Salesforce as you suggested.  I have spoken to them and they have strongly advised the following:

As PowerBI is a Salesforce partner, you should log a call on my behalf with Salesforce to solve the issue.

Can you please do this?

The Salesforce support reference is the following: Case #17644386

Any updates on this? Also having encountering this issue.

Hi all,

I got information that it works if the account is an saleforce developer account. Please check which kind of Salesforce do you use? Thanks.
