or

Is there a way to import data from Power BI Dataset into Excel?

Hi @karo - It depends, but why???  If the Power BI Dataset is hosted on Premium Capacity you can connect to using AnalysisServices.Database - PowerQuery M | Microsoft Docs.  You extract the individual tables into Excel, then within Power Pivot, recreate the Data Model.  There may be some limitations in re-creating the same Data Model because it is an earlier version of SSAS.  I would not recommend this approach, because it will not be as good as a composite model in Power BI Desktop.

Hi @karo,

Just as an alternalive:

A workaround could be to connect Excel to Power BI using "Analyse in Excel" to createdesired tables or pivots. These tables can be then used as a datasource to Power Query in the Excel file. But those tables and pivots will need to be refreshed manualy before running Power Query in Excel.

Cheers,

John

Hi @jbwtp , Thank you for the answer, however when I am trying it I am getting an error and it seems that it cannot be added into Excel Data Model. Could you share the steps how you doing this, please?
