power bi file size limits

I would like to know the size of power bi files in both free and pro version.  From the information on the versions i see it as 1 GB and 10 GB respectively.  Does this mean this is the limit for one power bi application or all the applications put to gether or is it a limit on the space in azure. 

Is there a way calculate the expected size of a power bi data model based on the input file sizes.

@Anonymous I suppose you are talking about the limit constrained for Power BI user in free and Pro account. When talking about the file size limit, recently it has been increased from 250 MB to 1 GB for a single pbix file uploaded to Power BI Online Service.

@Anonymous 1GB and 10GB are limit based per user. Therefore if you're free user you can have maximum allowed limit of 1GB in powerbi service and if Pro then 10GB and it doesn't matter how you got that limit in power bi service (through power bi desktop publish or connecting cloud based data sources). You can check your usage in powe bi service by going through settings icon in top right hand corner and click manage storage.

Thanks for the replies.  I would also like to know if there is any way to calculate the size of the in memory data model based on the volume of the source data. This will help in optimising the data model.

I have not yet got answer to my question - is there a way to find the  size of the data model  based on the transaction tables  records and dimension tables and advice clients.

@Anonymous If you are using the Power BI Desktop, you can change the PBIX file extension to .ZIP

If you then open the Zip file, it should show you the sizes of the different elements in the Desktop file. When you are done, you can change the extension back to .PBIX
