issue with sharing an excel sheet - the power query is gone
Hello,
I'm sharing an Excel (Mac) sheet with a power query
The query includes to an external CSV
Then I share the sheet with the excel but in share - send email functionality
When the recipient opens the sheet, the original power query is gone and it's substituted by another one
I also tried to save the Excel sheet with save as... macro enabled, but it didn't change anything.
Is this a bug, or intended behaviour?
How can I fix this?
Thanks
Zin

Hi Zin,
It seems that you are having trouble sharing an Excel sheet with a Power Query that includes an external CSV file. When the recipient opens the sheet, the original Power Query is gone and it’s substituted by another one. This could be due to the fact that the external CSV file is not being shared along with the Excel sheet. You can try sharing the external data source with data shaped by Power Query by using an ODC file. In this example, we share a workbook with data imported from a data workbook. But this process applies to almost all external data sources that Excel can import and connect.
If you are still having trouble sharing the Excel sheet with the Power Query, you can try creating an Office Data Connection (.odc) to share with other users. This will allow you to share external data sources with other users.Share external data by using an ODC file (Power Query) - Microsoft Support
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.Best Regards,

Hi Gao,
as you can see in the 2nd screenshot, my power query uses as source
Csv.Document(Web.Contents("https://xxx.blob.core.windows.net/yyy/yyy_orders.csv?sv=2021-10-04&st=2023-06-27T12%3A05%3A09Z&se=2053-06-28T12%3A05%3A00Z&sr=b&sp=r&sig=zzzz"), [Delimiter = ",", Columns = 10, Encoding = 65001, QuoteStyle = QuoteStyle.None]),So, I'm using a link to a csv residing in an Azure blob. The data is not on my local machine. I don't understand why this is not transferred when sharing. Can't I simply share an XLS with an embedded PQ using data from the web?
