cannot open or write to the file, it is already opened exclusively by another user or you need perm.

It is saying one of the files my access db is connected to cannot be opened or written to because it is already opened or need permission to view and write its data. The file in question is not opened by myself or any one else and I checked and all the files and folder have all permissions granted.

    How are you accessing the file?  Is it local on your computer or somewhere else on your network?

     

    When are you getting the error?  Is it when you open the file using Power BI Desktop's "Get Data" or when you are refreshing it using Power BI Online?

      Thanks for following up, the files are located on my local computer but they are saved on a shared drive (I confirmed no one else had the files opened).

       

      I get the error when trying to update the data in power bi. I have the data linked to a Microsoft access db and am accessing it through that in BI.

        Based on the error, it looks like a permissions issue, not a "file open" issue.  So when you are running the update, is this being done using Power BI online via a gateway?  Does this gateway have the correct file/folder permissions?

    I have the same problem every time I try to refresh my dashboard ...any idea how to fix it? The file is saved in my computer and is closed ...why I got an error saying the file is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view and write its data" ???
