Why Merge/Append Queries option greyed out in Schema view?
The tables in my Dataflow Gen2 are too large. So I always switch to Schema view. But the Merge/Append options are greyed out when we are in schema view. Is there a workaround to this without going to Data view? (Tables are too large)

Hi @_Smrithi
Interesting, I tested myself and I see the same thing, i.e. that when in Schema view, that Merge queries and Append queries options on the ribbon are greyed out.
However, it does appear that Merge queries and Append queries are available in the ellipsis or right-click menus within the diagram:
This is the only place I can find these function in the interface. The only other option would be to write the M code by hand.
Looks like it would be worth giving some feedback on the Schema view feature 😉

Hi @_Smrithi ,
The answer provided by the @OwenAuger , is correct. In addition to their solution, here are a few more points that might help.
-
If your specified dataflow uses a Live Connection mode, ensure that the append query is supported, as it may not be in this mode.
-
Verify that the queries you want to merge or append are enabled for load. If a query has "Enable Load" set to false, it may not be available for merging or appending operations.
-
Ensure you have selected two columns to merge or append the queries.
Thanks to @OwenAuger for their valuable input.
If my answer addressed your query, kindly mark it as the Accepted Solution to assist others.
I'd also be grateful for a 'Kudos' if you found my response useful!
