What can I do with an inconsistent column delimited text file?

Hi everyone,

I have encountered a roadblock, does anyone know what is the best approach to tabulate inconsistent delimited data?

Ive tried split column function in PQ but i could not get it right. Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

Here is the sample data.

Well, you have a couple of choices.

  • Clean up the  source text doc, replace tabs and spaces with a delimiter, and import
  • Import, and allow Power Query to handle the text replacements and remove
any rows that are not part of the header or rows of data.   From the small window of
an image, the data is separated as tabs, so this should go easily.

What is not clear, is if the "sample data" is only a small window into what the text file looks like, and
It is different from what is visible in the Posting.

Where are you getting hung up?  What help do you need?
