Using import instead of direct query

We have a pbix which has multiple tiles on it. These tiles together linked together with month filter.

And the data source is SQL Azure database.

We are fetching the data with 'direct query' option.

This pbix is embedded into .net web application. The data on this embedded pbix(seen on .net homepage of application) is always up to date, we do not need to schedule any refresh.

Now we want to use import instead of direct query.

Could you please help with a direction how to go for it?

Regards,

Ashwini

@ashwinibh you should be able to go to the Desktop and change the connection to Import from Direct Query pretty easily, however, once you make the move to Import, you will not be able to change to Direct Query. So, it may be a good idea to save the report as a different name if you would need to revert back.

@ashwinibh,

After you schedule refresh for your dataset, you can also refresh Power BI embedded report, please review the following blog.

But then, we will have to schedule a refresh for getting up to date data. And how will that support in pbix developed in PowerBI desktop and then embedded into .net application.
