Using Power Query to Map my Excel Query Database

This might be the wrong place for this but i was wondering if anyone has used Power Query to map their Database connections? the end goal is to create a Sankey visual in power bi which essentially shows the flow of data and associated quieries.

I know Power Query has "Query Dependencies" View but you can really export that on a grander scale.

Thank you,

Chris

I have a similar request; to document my Power Query dependencies I have to take snapshots of the trees and paste them together. Documenting the flow is really key to describing the process. Being able to filter out things like Transform and Sample files would help, too.

It's frustrating since the logic of reporting it is already there.

Another workaround I have is copying my entire data model (less the transformations for expanding files) and thenm manually stitching together all the dependencies referring to other queries as Sources or in Merged Queries.

Thanks,

David

I've played with something similar recently. If you have a table with columns for the From and To values, the Sankey visual should work well in Power BI. Have you tried it? What was the issue? You could also explore the Force Directed Graph visual to display your flow.

Can you post some sample data (in copy/paste-able format, not image)?
