Tranform base64 to xls (it is removing decimal values)

I am working with an API that returns me an XLS in base64,

    Source= Web.Contents("https://domain/api/xls ",

    [

       Headers=[

          Accept="*/*",

          #"content-type"="text/plain; charset=UTF-8",

                ],

         Content=Text.ToBinary(request)

    ] ),

   #"textBase64"=Text.FromBinary(Source),

   #"BinaryFromTextBase64"=Binary.FromText(#"textBase64”, BinaryEncoding.Base64),

   #"Document" = Excel.Workbook(#"BinaryFromTextBase64")

I am having an issue, when I do that all columns are correcting returned, but two columns with decimal values are returning blank. (If I do this process manually it works well) -> (base64 to file .xls)

To contextualize, I have two ideas about the possible reasons:

First: I am working with Brazilian documents, I am thinking that have a relation with the decimal format

Second: XLS is from  97-2003, when I open it manually it is in compatibility mode.

I tried many things and I am stuck ☹️😖

  • Do you have any way of using XSLX files instead?  As you mentioned, XLS is a really old format, and does not support some of the meta data fields that Power BI needs to infer column types. You will also find that the Power BI service will not work with XLS files.
