Too much data for GitHub content pack?

I am hoping to use the GitHub Content Pack to tap into data from a github project. However, I get the following error:

We couldn't import data from GitHub

Make sure you're entering the information correctly.

This is a very large GitHub project (60k+ commits)... maybe too big for the content pack to handle? The content pack seems to work for smaller projects... even ones that I'm not a member of. Sidenote, I can access the data via power bi desktop... just not powerbi.com
