Are you able to refresh the dataset in Power BI Desktop? If there is no issue refreshing it in Desktop, please install the latest version of Power BI on-premises gateway, then check if you get errors.

I am able to refresh on PowerBI desktop. Only issue is with on demand/scheduled refresh from PowerBI service. I am using onpremise enterprise gateway edition. Do I really need to install latest version? is it the only option?

The issue has been submitted internally, and PG'response is as follows. Please install the latest version of on-premises gatewway and check the issue.

Ih the November release we resolved an issue that has affected a small set of customers who have multiple datasets refreshing at the same time and in which some refreshes fail with timeout error because gateway was busy with other refreshes.

I updated existing gateway with new update, that also failed. Later, I set up new gateway altogther on brand new server. It also did not work out. Still having the same issue. Any help is appreciated.

The error only occurs for the specific dataset, right? Please create a small report with limited rows using the SQL data source and check if the refresh works in Power BI Service.

It's for all datasets. I tested only one table in the powerbi model. Even that also failed. I did this test long back before installing new gateway and all this stuff.
