This thread is quite old so I am not sure if you are still experiencing there authentication error. We are still experiencing the same issue with Sharepoint.Contents()
Its my observation that this error does not occur if the authenticated user has permissions to view the root of the sharepoint site.
Typically, a lower level sub-folder might be shared without sharing the upper levels. While I can see these files through the browser, Power Query returns the authentication error.
