Salesforce credentials not accepted in service - Working fine in PBI desktop

Hi,

I am using a dataset that uses one file and Salesforce reports.

When using the PBI service and trying to set a schedule refresh, the gateway seems to work fine (I have tried connecting just the file without reports), but for Saleforce , the credentials I provide are not accepted by the system when they are exactly the same I use in PBI desktop succesfully. .I get the following messages:

Failed to update data source credentials.Hide details

Request ID:a87cbefe-bfcf-5f40-9d4a-dd124c93c0ab

Can someone help me to identify how I can resolve this?

Thanks

Hi @Eptor were you able to find a solution? As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector, which connects directly to SF objects API. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:

After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:

SALESFORCE-2.png

There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor.  Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

Hi @Eptor,

Are you able to refresh data in Power BI Desktop? And what authentication type do you use to connect to Salesforce?

Besides, could you please connect to Salesforce using content pack and check if you can set schedule refresh for the dataset successful?

Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
