Salesforce connection suddeny broken
I've had PBI connected to my Salesforce account for almost 2 years now, all of a sudden today the refreshes started failing. The web service says invalid credentials, so I tried signing in again, I even revoked access from the salesforce side and then re-signed in. I also tried another username and password for Salesforce... no go.
Getting an Error 400.
On the Desktop program, I tried refreshing and it says "Access to the resource is forbidden".
HELP! Did something change today in the PBI world? this started happening just after 12:00pm EST.

I suggest you attach Fiddler and trace the requests from Power BI to the salesforce service. You should be able to get details on the response that is throwing the error.

Hi grodinsm were you able to find a solution? As a workaround, maybe you can try to test your connection with a 3rd party connector. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Salesforce connector in the data sources list:
After that, just grant access to your Salesforce account using your credentials, then on preview and destination page you will see a preview of your Salesforce fields:
There just select the fields you need. It is also compatible with custom fields and custom objects, so you'll be able to export them through windsor. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.

Hi grodinsm
Since both Power BI Desktop and Service stopped working at the same time, and another Salesforce user also fails, this is unlikely to be a simple password issue.
Check Salesforce Login History and any recent org-level security changes. Confirm that API access is still enabled, the connection uses a supported Salesforce domain rather than a Lightning URL, and “Lock sessions to the IP address from which they originated” is disabled.
Because the thread does not confirm a root cause, I would also capture the full error details and open a Microsoft support case if the issue persists.
Power BI Connector for Salesforce by Metrica Software provides another Salesforce-to-Power BI path: https://appexchange.salesforce.com/appxListingDetail?listingId=31526f0e-abd8-4cb5-bd1a-3bd56b5c0577
It will not bypass Salesforce security restrictions, but it can provide an alternative to the native connector setup.

Sounds like a sudden OAuth/authentication issue between Power BI and Salesforce, not a bad password. Since it started at the same time for both Desktop and Service, check Microsoft’s Power BI status first. If nothing is reported, try clearing the Salesforce credentials in Power BI and reconnecting. If it still fails, it may be a temporary Microsoft/Salesforce integration issue.
